Easter Traditions in Romania

The children can hardly wait for the Easter holiday because it is an opportunity of joy for the whole family. Everybody gets ready for Christ's Ressurection: they clean tehir houses and gardens, they cook specific meals and go to church. They help their mothers cooking traditional cakes: cozonac and pasca. For this holiday they prepare boiled eggs, which are offered to the guests after they are painted in red. In the first Easter day, after they come home from church, the children wash their faces with red eggs and basil in order to be healthy the entire year. In the water there are also coins which are taken by the last member of the family who washes his face.
